St. Joseph County Commissioners are investigating the operations of the DuComb Center.

The community-based residential correctional facility, near the South Bend International Airport, is an alternative to traditional incarceration.

WNDU reports that the work release facility — one of the first in the state– faces a number of allegations. Those include staffing issues, ghost employment, abuse of overtime, improper financial transactions, failure to follow mandated policies, and more.

The facility’s executive director publicly addressed questions earlier this week regarding financial issues at the Center. County Commissioners are asking anyone with relevant information to assist with the investigation.
