Suspect arrested in connection with January deadly shooting at Cedar Glen Apartments

A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting at an apartment complex on South Bend’s east side.

On Thursday, Jan. 18, South Bend Police were dispatched to Cedar Glen Apartments in the 400 block of S. 26th Street on the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found Dennis Cunningham, 51, suffering from a gunshot wound. Cunningham was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through an investigation and the processing of evidence by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, Anthony Perry, 56, was identified as a suspect.

Perry was taken into custody on Feb. 23 and charged with Reckless Homicide for his role in Cunningham’s death, as well as a Firearm Enhancement.

Perry is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.
