Suspect arrested in connection with shooting on Leland Avenue in South Bend

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting in South Bend.

It was around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, when South Bend Police were sent to the 600 block of Leland Avenue on a ShotSpotter notification.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

As units were responding to the call, an officer spotted a male running away from the scene. The male was detained and, through further investigation and follow-up, was ultimately arrested.

The suspect, Adrian Pope, 36, faces preliminary charges of Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon and Resisting Law Enforcement.

He was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail, where he awaits formal charges.
