Pedestrian struck, killed by train on west side of South Bend

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train on the west side of South Bend. The collision happened aroud 2:15 a.m. on Friday, March 1, in the area just south of Ardmore Trail between Mayflower and Butternut Roads.
Earlier indications are that a male was lying across the tracks before being hit.
Norfolk Southern Police are handling the investigation.
The details regarding what led to the collision remain unknown.
