Elkhart man killed in deer-related collision on Cassopolis Road

An Elkhart man was killed in a crash involving a deer.

The collision happened just before 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, in the area of Cassopolis Road and Bullhand Street.

The Cass County Sheriff’s investigation states a 20-year-old Osceola woman was traveling northbound and struck a deer that was on the road. A second vehicle, driven by 67-year-old Daniel Haskett, was traveling southbound when the impact of the first crash propelled the deer through Haskett’s windshield.

Haskett then drove off the roadway.

Haskett was pronounced dead at the scene.
