Trial will be moving forward for a man charged with murdering his wife in August of last year.

36-year-old Matthew Thompson is believed to be responsible for the death of his wife, Ciarra Thompson.

According to The Goshen News, police were called to Cone Street in Elkhart for a report that Thompson’s wife was unconscious, not breathing and bloodied. Thompson reportedly told police that he had found her on the kitchen floor and that she would not wake up.

She was found deceased at the scene, and officers stated that blood was found throughout the living room and kitchen of the home, with some appearing to have been cleaned up.

While he initially denied causing harm to his wife, Thompson eventually admitted that he had punched her numerous times and shook her before she struck her head on the kitchen counter and fell down on the kitchen floor.

Thompson’s trial date is set for May 6.
