A national high-visibility enforcement effort is being launched this April to deter distracted driving.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching the effort, with law enforcement officers working together to enforce texting and distracted-driving laws.

Drivers will see increased law enforcement efforts with officers stopping and ticketing anyone caught texting and driving. Violators of Indiana’s hands-free law could face a Class C infraction with fines up to $500 and have points added to their license.

Motorists are urged to focus on the road.

Avoid any activity that takes attention away from safe driving.

I’m torn between “pay up, you tax chattel” and “good, those people need to start paying attention”.
