A new weather app, WeatherPromise, offers travelers compensation up to $10,000 for rainy days during their trips.

Similar to travel insurance, users pay between $5 to $500 for coverage against vacation disruptions caused by bad weather.

Based in New York, the company employs AI to provide hourly weather forecasts for 2.3 million locations worldwide. Eligible travelers can receive refunds ranging from $100 to $10,000 if it rains for a specified duration during their trips.

By purchasing WeatherPromise based on destination and trip length, users automatically qualify for refunds if the app’s forecast doesn’t align with actual weather conditions.

Rainy days are defined as those with at least three hours of rainfall between 8 am and 8 pm, with precipitation exceeding 0.06 inches per hour.
