Oaklawn, Michiana’s leader in mental health and addiction services, will hold the third annual Oaklawn’s Got Talent on Friday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lerner Theater. The event raises funds and awareness for local mental health and addiction treatment, and features four local acts who compete for a grand prize of $5,000. The winner is determined by audience vote at the event.
“We’re so excited for this opportunity to celebrate mental health and substance use treatment while showcasing some amazing performers from our own community,” said Becky Zakowski, executive director of the Oaklawn Foundation. “We’ll also share some ways Oaklawn is responding to the growing need for services. It’s wonderful that stigma is decreasing, and more people are reaching out for help, and we’re honored to be there for our community when they need us.”
Oaklawn’s Got Talent is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser and all proceeds support local mental health and addiction services, which are provided regardless of a client’s ability to pay. Oaklawn serves 25,000 children, adolescents and adults annually in Elkhart and St. Joseph counties.
The show will feature the original five-piece band Quite Frank Lee, singer-songwriter Marriani Fleming, the musical improvisation group Hart Health and dancer Olivia Kruyer. Tickets cost $10 and are available from the Lerner Box Office at thelerner.com, by calling 574-293-4469 or in person at 410 S. Main St., Elkhart.
