A new veterans service office has opened its doors to southern Berrien County.

The Niles office will be helping veterans navigate the Veterans Affairs benefits system, such as compensation, pension and survivor benefits for widows.

The office helps the families of veterans who have passed away in order to file for headstones, burial reimbursements, burial flags and more.

The new office is located in the north end of the Berrien County Niles Courthouse and will be open Monday through Thursday.

Appointments can be made by calling the office, and walk-ins will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
