Two southwest Michigan drive-in theaters, 5 Mile Drive-In in Dowagiac and Sunset Drive-In in Hartford, are shutting down this summer.
Neal and Glenda Edwards bought 5 Mile Drive-In in 2006 and Sunset Drive-In in 2003.
Their son has managed both for years.
5 Mile Drive-In opened in 1961, and Sunset Drive-In in 1948.
The closure announcement on Facebook cites unexpected family health issues.
Leader Publications reports that both theaters have been up for sale since 2021.
