A mother is facing charges after reportedly bringing her malnourished baby to the hospital in December of 2022.

34 year old Brittney Dickens brought her three-month-old baby to the hospital where doctors noted that all of the baby’s ribs were showing, his clothing was dirty and he had frostbite on his foot. He was transferred to Riley Children’s Hospital for life-threatening conditions and was discharged to a foster home later that month.

He was found to have had severe malnutrition, dehydration, septic shock, a blood infection and tested positive for various viruses.

His leg also had to be amputated below the knee due to the blood infection.

The Goshen News reports that Dickens was charged with Neglect of a Dependent and is scheduled for jury trial August 12.

Can her punishment be the same as what she did to her own child?
