Charges have been filed against the mother of an 18-month-old child who overdosed on a narcotic in LaPorte.

22 year-old Lily Mae Allen faces a charge of neglect of a dependent in LaPorte Circuit Court.

Emergency responders were called to a home, last Tuesday night, in the 300 block of Oberreich Street on the city’s east side.

Police said the toddler was shaking, vomiting and experiencing irregular breathing.

The child was taken to Northwest Health in LaPorte, and tested positive for methamphetamine.
