South Bend Fire responds to vacant house fire on Johnson Street

The South Bend Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire in the 1700 block of Johnson Street.
Crews were called around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, and arrived to find dark smoke coming from the second story window of the home.
The fire was quickly extinguished with overhaul complete and hot spots given plenty of water.
Firefighters were treated by our EMS crew during to make sure vitals, water intake  and body temperatures were cooled down before returning to work overhaul on the structure. This was due to the warm temperatures on Thursday.
No firefighters were injured.
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
