Elkhart first responders honored for work during EF1 tornado

First responders in Elkhart were honored for their work during the EF1 tornado on July 16.
The Elkhart City Council recognized their efforts at a meeting on Monday night, Aug. 5.
The workers at the 911 Communication Center, who activated the outdoor warning signals during the storm, were also recognized.
They handled a flood of calls after the tornado.
The director of the 911 Communications team said that all first responders are always ready for any emergency, and their response to this tornado proves it.
While repairs are ongoing, debris from fallen trees and branches has been completely cleared.
