A Dowagiac man withdrew his plea this week after the judge rejected the deal.

30-year-old Israel Santana Reyna had pleaded guilty  to second offense possession of meth from an incident that happened in May, and he and his attorney had asked the judge to accept the recommendation that included participation in the Adult Treatment Court and no additional jail time.

The judge, however, noted that Reyna had just been released from prison earlier this year after serving concurrent terms for operating a meth lab and conspiracy to deliver meth.

According to Leader Publications, the attorney indicated that Reyna would withdraw his plea and is asking for the case to go back to the beginning in court with a preliminary hearing.
