Jose Elizalde, the first of Goshen Community School’s candidates charged with election fraud in 2022, was sentenced on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

He pled guilty in June to filing a fraudulent report, a Level 6 felony.

Elizalde received a 365-day jail sentence, which was suspended, and will serve one weekend of community service as part of his probation.

The conviction is recorded as a Class A misdemeanor due to his clean criminal record.

Charges against the other defendants-Roger Nafziger, Mario Garber, Andrea Johnson, and former Goshen Mayor Allan Kauffman-include filing a fraudulent report and accepting contributions in someone else’s name.

Kauffman faces additional counts for the Class B misdemeanor.
