Elkhart woman, 22, hospitalized after crash crash, fire on State Road 15

A 22-year-old Elkhart woman was hospitalized after crashing her car, which then caught fire. The colliison happened just after 4 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, on State Road 15 north of U.S. 20.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s investigators say the woman was traveling southbound when she veered off the road into a ditch, causing damage to the vehicle. She then drove back onto the highway where the vehicle caught fire.

Sher was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with a complaint of back pain.

Factors that led to the crash are still being investigated.
