Impaired Driving Campaign begins across Indiana Aug 16

The annual end-of-summer impaired driving enforcement campaign is almost here.

From August 16 through September 2, officers across Indiana will increase patrols and sobriety checkpoints to crack down on drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The high-visibility campaign is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through grants administered by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

Alcohol impaired driving accounted for around one-fifth of all traffic fatalities in 2023, and nearly a quarter of deaths on the road involved drug impairment.
