Two arrested after traffic stop leads to meth discovery in Dowagiac

Two people were arrested after a traffic stop in the 100 block of Halstead St. led to the discovery of methamphetamine, according to the Dowagiac Police Department and the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, Sep. 3, when officers, assisted by K9 Cash, conducted a traffic stop. The dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs on both the passenger and driver’s side doors of the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered methamphetamine, resulting in the arrest of both the 63-year-old driver and the 40-year-old passenger. The suspects have been charged with possession of methamphetamine. Their names are currently being withheld pending arraignment.

This operation is part of a joint investigation between the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team and the Dowagiac Police Department, which is still ongoing.
