The Buchanan City Commission is attempting to reestablish the Downtown Development Authority.

The DDA was disbanded in 2020, and restarting it could cost between 20 and 30 thousand dollars.

They say some of the money could come from leftover funds that were not dedicated to specific projects at the end of their dismantling.

Commissioner Dan Vigansky said the newly reconstituted DDA does not have to suffer from the dysfunction the old DDA did, and WSJM says it could take over the effort to have Buchanan designated as a Michigan Main Street City with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

Commissioners told staff to start working on the issue.
