One person was killed on Teasdale Lake Street, just west of Robbins Lake Road in Cass County’s Porter Township.

The vehicle was speeding when the driver lost control, flipped the car, and slid about 50 yards down an embankment before hitting a tree around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 13. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities suspect alcohol and drugs contributed to the crash. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported.
