Looking to do some U-Pick soon? Michigan’s apples and peaches are coming in ahead of schedule right now.

You can thank some extreme weather this year, such as a 70° day in February followed by a cold front and more record high temperatures, for the early budding and harvest this year.

Bridge Michigan reports that one orchard owner is calling this “probably the earliest he’s ever seen” the harvest. Many U-Pick places around the state were actually ripe and ready last month, but waited for September because they assumed no one would want to walk in the orchards in the August heat.

The unpredictable weather did, however, cause a lot of crop loss for peaches this year across the state.
