A 25-year-old man was given an enhanced sentence after pleading guilty to robbing a man at gunpoint.

It happened at Island Park in Elkhart last winter. Andres Castro was accused of threatening and robbing a man and possession of marijuana in December when they allegedly approached a man who was watching geese.

The victim stated that one of the men had pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at him, demanding his wallet and possessions.

They allegedly took his phone, wallet and backpack before fleeing. Witnesses were able to take pictures of the suspects.

Castro was sentenced to 10 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections with three years suspended on reporting probation for Armed Robbery.
