Police in Goshen responded to report of an allegedly intoxicated driver, resulting in the arrest of Jorge Perez Rojas, 38, of Ligonier.
Around 6:20 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of W. Plymouth Ave after receiving reports of erratic driving. While en route, Perez reportedly struck two vehicles and fled the scene without exchanging information, according to authorities.
Upon arrival, officers located Perez, who failed a series of field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test registered his blood alcohol concentration at .210, more than twice the legal limit. A blood sample was also taken, with results pending.
In addition, police say they discovered Perez was in possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance for which he did not have a valid prescription.
He was arrested and transported to the Elkhart County Jail, where he faces charges including operating while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, and drug possession.
