Driver hospitalized following collision with semi-truck in Elkhart County

A serious collision involving a Chevrolet Malibu and a semi-truck on U.S. 20 left a Goshen man hospitalized.
The accident occurred just after 1 a.m.  at the intersection of US 20 and County Road 21. A 19-year-old driver was traveling southbound on CR 21 in a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu when the vehicle collided with a semi-trailer. The semi-truck, a 2005 Peterbilt, was heading westbound on US 20 at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained apparent internal injuries and was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with serious injuries. The semi-truck driver, who was uninjured, reported minimal damage to the trailer.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team is actively investigating the incident.
