A woman working as a prison guard in Westville has been accused of attempting to smuggle marijuana and other items to inmates.
Court documents state that during a routine pat-down, last week, at Westville Correctional Facility, security found a hard object between Salina Newton’s upper legs as she reported for work.
It turns out the hard object was a package wrapped in black electrical tape.
It contained about a quarter ounce of marijuana, nearly a half ounce of tobacco, and 150 rolling papers.
Newton, 43, faces two Level 5 felony charges for trafficking with an inmate.
