(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

To help families with food for the holidays, the Mishawaka Police Department has introduced the Holiday Meal Initiative.

They’ll be providing 50 families with a complete Thanksgiving meal and a complete Christmas meal.

Thanksgiving meals will include a $25 gift card to redeem for a turkey or ham at Walmart, as well as turkey gravy, canned corn, canned green beans, potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie, rolls and other Thanksgiving staples.

It’s all made possible with grants through the Spark Good foundation which awarded $5,000 to carry out the initiative.
