The crash happened around 1:40 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, near the intersection of Ironwood Drive and Jackson Road. Officers from the South Bend Police Department and the St. Joseph County Police Department responded to reports of a three-vehicle collision.

Despite extensive lifesaving efforts, one driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people involved were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while another driver declined further medical treatment.
