The City of South Bend is offering free Christmas tree recycling for residents within city limits.

Beginning Monday, January 5 through Thursday, January 29, trees will be picked up curbside on the same day as regular trash service.

Residents must schedule a pickup on the City of South Bend’s website or by calling 311.

Recycled trees will be turned into mulch and compost.

City officials remind residents to place trees at the curb by 6 a.m., remove all decorations, lights, stands, and metal and keep vehicles clear of the pickup area.

Free pickup is limited to one tree per household.
