A man accused of murder has been sentenced to 70 years following a guilty plea.
Ja Liahs Curry is charged in the February 2023 murder of Thomas Johnson. Reports say Curry and his then-girlfriend got into a fight, during which he kicked, punched and pistol-whipped her.
The altercation led to Johnson coming out of his apartment to intervene, though reports say Curry shot him.
Police found Johnson who had been shot at the scene and he later died at the hospital.
The Goshen News says Curry was sentenced for murder to 60 years with an additional 10 year penalty for use of a firearm.
