Man, 28, arrested after shooting into homes on Kemble Avenue in South Bend

A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with shots being fired into two South Bend homes on Christmas Day.

On Wednesday, Dec. 25, around 6:50 p.m., South Bend Police were called to the 1800 block of Kemble Avenue on the report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers observed damage from apparent gunfire to two occupied residences.

Through an investigation by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, 28-year-old Franklin Soto-Meza was identified as a suspect.

Soto-Meza told detectives he fired shots outside after getting into a domestic argument.

No one was injured in this incident.

On Friday, December 27, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged Soto-Meza with two felony counts of Criminal Recklessness.

Soto-Meza is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.
