Mother launches petition after son dies

(95.3 MNC)

The mother of a 12-year-old is launching a petition after a man gave him a drink with lethal chemicals in it.

Karah Scott, the mother of 12-year-old Josiah Scott who died on December 5, has launched the petition seeking tougher penalties for reckless homicide.

28-year-old Michael E. Baker of Terre Haute now faces charges including reckless homicide.

With current legislation, the perpetrator may serve 1 to 6 years on a level 5 felony for reckless homicide.

However, the petition says reckless homicide should constitute a higher-level felony with penalties reflecting the horrendous impact of the actions. The petition can be found on Change.org.
