Michigan City man arrested on child pornography charges

A 29-year-old Michigan City man was arrested on Friday, Jan. 17, following an investigation into alleged possession of child pornography, authorities said.

The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division began the investigation in May 2024 after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip flagged three videos containing alleged Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), prompting a probe by the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Investigators determined the suspect, later identified as Stephen Julius Terrell Morrow II, resided at a home in the 3100 block of Springland Avenue in Michigan City. Over the course of the investigation, additional videos were uncovered, leading to a search warrant being granted and executed at the residence.

Morrow was taken into custody without incident and transported to the LaPorte County Jail. He faces preliminary charges of possession of child pornography, a Level 5 felony. The LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office will determine final charges.

The ICAC Task Force encourages residents to report online exploitation or suspected crimes against children to NCMEC via their website, which can be accessed through the ICAC Task Force site.

For cases involving internet-related crimes against children, individuals are urged to contact their local Indiana law enforcement agency.
