Elkhart County authorities are investigating a fatal construction site accident that occurred on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Sunnyside overpass project.

Michael Knotts, 31, of La Porte, lost his life. Knotts worked for Rieth Reilly Construction. Knotts was directing a pipe in the driver, when unknown reason the driver become disconnected striking him.

According to the Elkhart County Coroner’s Office, Knotts died from multiple blunt force injuries. The incident has been classified as accidental.
