Local lawmakers’ reaction to President Trump’s inauguration

President Donald Trump

President Trump is promising what he calls a “golden age of America.” He said that began his inauguration address on Monday, Jan. 20.

Indiana Republican Congressman Rudy Yakym said Trump taking back over as President is “the beginning of America’s comeback.”

Indiana Republican Senator Jim Banks says he “will always stand with President Trump in the Senate and look forward to fighting alongside him to restore American greatness.”

Indiana’s Governor Mike Braun says he’s excited to work alongside Trump to help Hoosiers.

Congressman Tim Walberg of Michigan says  the American people sent a clear message to support the Trump agenda, and he remains committed to working with my colleagues to do just that.

Congressman Tim Walberg (R) released the following statement:

“It was a privilege to witness the historic Inauguration of President Trump and Vice President Vance,” said Rep. Walberg. “Since the mandate issued by the American people last November, I have been working with President Trump and his administration in my role as Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee to help deliver his agenda, from strengthening parental rights to expanding school choice. I also remain committed to working with the Trump administration to secure our borders, grow our economy, and ensure the United States remains competitive on the global stage. America’s future is truly bright. Let’s get to work and produce results for Americans across the country!”

Senator Jim Banks (R-Ind.) released the following statement:

“Today marks one of the greatest days in American history. Thanks to President Trump, we have an incredible opportunity to achieve extraordinary things for our country. There is no time to waste. The Senate must do its part and act with urgency to confirm President Trump’s cabinet and advance his America First agenda through Congress.

By signing more than 200 day one executive orders, President Trump is fulfilling his promises to secure the border, initiate mass deportations, and unleash American energy. His decisive actions to remove critical race theory and radical transgender ideology from our schools and military are vital steps toward restoring common sense nationwide.

I will always stand with President Trump in the Senate and look forward to fighting alongside him to restore American greatness. With President Trump leading the way, America’s best days are yet to come!”

Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) issued the following statement:

“Congratulations to President Trump on his Inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.

“Today is a new day for America, a day that will forever be remembered as the beginning of America’s comeback. With President Trump’s return, we have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to make our country safer, stronger, and respected again.

“I am eager to hit the ground running with President Trump at the helm to secure the border, lower inflation, return to American energy independence, cut burdensome regulations, and take care of our nation’s veterans. Together, we will Make America Great Again!”
