Elkhart man sentenced for attempted auto theft

(Tommie Lee/MNC)

An Elkhart man was sentenced on Thursday for an attempted auto theft.

Reports say police responded to a vehicle break-in in July of 2022 where a truck at Lincolnway Sales & Service had been broken into.

The driver’s side door had been broken off and the ignition was notably damaged. The Goshen News says plastic gloves were found on the ground near the door as well as inside the vehicle on the floor and seat.

Swabs from the gloves were taken to Indiana State Police Lab where they were matched to Michael Hadley, though Hadley denied the break-in.

He was sentenced by plea for attempted theft to one year at the Indiana Department of Corrections with a recommendation for placement in Recovery While Incarcerated.
