An 18-year-old Goshen man avoided prison time after pleading guilty to threatening Goshen Community Schools.
Andre B. Smith apologized during sentencing, saying he wanted to be there for his family and newborn. The judge suggested he write an apology letter to the school.
Smith was arrested on two counts of intimidation after a social media threat went viral on Sept. 18. His post read, “Goshen high school students be ready,” followed by gun and devil emojis. An anonymous comment also threatened police.
The school went on high alert, and attendance dropped to around 20 percent that day.
Smith was sentenced to two years, with time served in jail and the remainder on probation. One charge was dropped.

Disgusting. He should be in jail. We need to take threats seriously.
