A two-vehicle collision left one person injured.
It happened around 9:20 a.m. on Friday, March 14, at the intersection of County Road 40 and County Road 9, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
A 2014 Ford Escape, driven by a 77-year-old Elkhart man, failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling south on County Road 9. The Ford was struck on the driver’s side by a westbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 35-year-old Wakarusa man, who had the right of way.
The driver of the Ford was cited for disregarding a stop sign. Neither driver sustained injuries, and both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. However, a 66-year-old female passenger in the Ford complained of chest pain and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
