A man drowned while fishing on Goose Lake near Columbia City, said conservation officers with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Dabiel Watson, 60, and his fishing partner Nicholas George, 49, were fishing from a boat on Sunday, April 13, when Watson fell out, causing the boat to capsize. That happened about 2:45 p.m.

Both men yelled for help. But, by the time help came Watson had drowned.

Officers said there were life jackets on the boat, but neither men had them on.

They encourage you to wear your life jackets when on the water.
