Families file complaints, lawsuits after waiting for loved ones’ remains

Families are filing complaints and lawsuits against a crematory, alleging mishandling of their loved ones’ remains. Some families are still waiting for remains months after their relatives’ deaths.
One family signed a contract with Crown Cremation in Lake County, but is still waiting for their mother’s remains.
More than two dozen families are suing Crown, along with Heights Crematory in Chicago Heights for various allegations, including improper storage and failure to cremate bodies.
