A high-visibility patrol conducted by seven troopers from the Indiana State Police Bremen Post led to multiple arrests, traffic stops, and even a goat rescue during a busy shift on Saturday, May 31.

The targeted patrol focused on proactive enforcement and criminal interdiction, resulting in:

31 citations and 22 warnings

5 OWI arrests

24 drug-related arrests

38 misdemeanor and 18 felony arrests

1 vehicle pursuit

17 individuals facing criminal charges

And one loose goat was taken safely into custody

Early in the shift, troopers responded to reports of a goat wandering near the Family Dollar on Lincoln Way West in South Bend. The goat was safely corralled and turned over to the South Bend Animal Resource Center. No charges were filed.

Later, troopers attempted to stop a red Chevrolet Impala near Ralph Jones Drive and Cleveland Road. The driver, identified as 53-year-old John Keye of Savannah, Georgia, led police on a chase through Granger that ended in a parking lot off East Jefferson Road. Troopers used a PIT maneuver to bring the pursuit to a close. Keye was arrested and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on charges including Resisting Law Enforcement and OWI.
