One person was injured in a fire at a vacant house on Michigan Avenue near Niles Avenue in St. Joseph.

Crews arrived around 4:30 a.m on Tuesday, June 3, and found flames on the first floor.

The injured person was taken to the hospital with burns.

The house was believed to be vacant.

WSBT reports the fire’s cause is under investigation, though officials say they are nearly certain how it sparked.
