Fatal collision involving horse on County Road 38

A Millersburg man was killed after colliding with a horse.
It happened just after 3:30 a.m. on Monday, June 9, on County Road 38, west of County Road 43.
Ronald Gene Mast, 63, was driving eastbound in his Ford SUV when the vehicle collided with a horse that had wandered onto the roadway, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
Mast was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Authorities have not cited any other contributing factors that led to the collision.
