The name of the man killed in this weekend’s shooting in Elkhart in which 11 other people were wounded is Davelle Osby, 30. He died Sunday following the early morning shooting, which was during a party on West Garfield Ave.
A doorbell video released by investigators Monday showed the party in the street, with people milling around, until the sound of automatic gunfire had people scatter and run.
It was in that spray of gunfire that 12 people took bullets, including Osby.
“Video footage, statements, eye witness accounts, that’s what’s gonna solve this crime,” said Elkhart Police Capt. Travis Hamlin, at a Monday news conference. “Obviously there were numerous people there.”
Mayor Rod Roberson made a plea for people to come forward with information that could lead to an arrest of one or maybe numerous shooters.
“I want to make to sure to ask anyone who knows anything to ensure those that were recklessly using these firearms and committed this senseless act of taking a life to be brought to justice,” he said.
As of Monday afternoon eight people had been released from the hospital, with three still being treated for their wounds.
