A 10-month-old child died in a car fire following a crash in LaPorte County.

The collision happened just after 1 p.m. on Friday, June 27, in the 11500 block of W. County Road 400 North, with deputies unable to approach the vehicle due to intense flames.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, but the child did not survive.

The identity of the child has not been released, and authorities are seeking information to aid in the investigation.
