A 38-year-old South Bend man has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
James E. Burch II was sentenced specifically to 46 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
The case stems from an incident in August 2024, when officers were called to a residence where Burch was reportedly seen and photographed pointing a .357 caliber revolver. Police located the weapon upon arrival and arrested Burch at the scene.
Court records show Burch has three prior felony convictions, each of which legally prohibits him from possessing a firearm.
