Elkhart’s vibrant arts scene takes center stage once again at the July Art Walk, happening Wednesday, July 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Elkhart. This free community event will feature 20 local artists showcasing their work inside shops, along sidewalks, and in public spaces.
Hosted by Elkhart Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Downtown Elkhart Merchants Alliance and presenting sponsor Ruthmere, Art Walk invites residents and visitors alike to explore local creativity, enjoy live performances, and support downtown businesses
Live music will fill the streets throughout the evening, including:
· Acoustic Anthems performing on the Main Stage at Civic Plaza
· Barry Clark playing classical guitar outside The Vine
· Informal, playing electric cello in the green space by the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce
“Each Art Walk brings something new to discover. From talented local artists to unique music performances and fun surprises along Main Street,” said Liz Stoutenour, Elkhart Parks & Recreation Event Coordinator. “We love seeing people connect, explore downtown, and support the arts in Elkhart.”
Mayor Rod Roberson agrees that events like Art Walk play a significant role in fostering community pride and vibrancy. “Art Walk is a beautiful example of how public-private partnerships can create something truly special,” he said. “When our businesses, cultural institutions, and parks department collaborate, we create the kind of downtown energy that makes people proud to live here.
The fun continues after the main event with Art Walk After Hours at Our Place on Main. Guests are invited to mingle with artists, musicians, and event committee members, with live music performed by pianist Simon KH.
Art Walk Wednesdays will continue on Aug. 27 and Sep. 24. For details and artist/musician applications, visit ElkhartArtWalk.com.
