The City of South Bend, in partnership with the Housing Authority, will host a community input meeting for Phase One of the Western Avenue Transformation District. The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the St. Joseph County Public Library Community Learning Center.
This first phase of the Western Avenue Transformation District will redevelop the former Rabbi Shulman and Monroe Circle block into a vibrant, mixed-income neighborhood.
The meeting will include a brief presentation, followed by opportunities to provide feedback on the site plan for the former development. City leadership and the developer will be in attendance.

“a vibrant, mixed-income neighborhood.”

And nobody will want to live there. Our housing market is entirely driven by wanting to move away from impoverished areas as soon as you have the money to do so. The city’s leadership keeps beating this drum, but reality isn’t going to cooperate.
