The trial for a South Bend police officer has been canceled after a plea agreement was reached.

24-year-old Emanuel Garcia was arrested in February after investigators say he got violent with his girlfriend.

Now, Garcia has reached a plea agreement on charges of domestic battery in front of a child less than 16 years old and resisting law enforcement and drawing a weapon.

Five other charges were thrown out as part of the deal. He will be sentenced on September 9.

I sincerely hope that part of his sentencing is that he can never hold a law enforcement position anywhere in the country. He has shown he has no control over his anger or common sense when it comes to firearms.
